Q1 2021 Performance of Top Social Networking iOS Apps in Brazil

In the first quarter of 2021, Brazil's iOS platform saw significant activity among the leading social networking applications. Sensor Tower's data provides a clear view of how these apps performed during this period.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with downloads peaking at 235K in the first week of January and then following a descending trend to 119K by the end of March. The app's revenue showed fluctuations with the highest at $20K in late March, while weekly active users hovered around the 5.5M mark, ending the quarter with a slight increase.

Telegram Messenger experienced a surge in downloads reaching 289K in mid-January, which then gradually decreased to 81K by the close of March. The weekly active users saw an initial increase to 2.5M in late January, but this figure showed a slight decline, ending the quarter at 2.4M.

The Facebook app witnessed steady download numbers starting at 130K and dipping to 97K by March's end. Revenue saw an overall increase with a peak at $16K in mid-March, while active users consistently rose, starting at 21.8M and reaching 22.5M in early March before a modest drop to 22.2M.

Messenger, also by Meta Platforms, Inc., showed downloads fluctuating between 94K and 107K without a clear trend. As for the weekly active users, the app peaked at 6.5M in mid-February and ended the quarter with 6.2M.

Lastly, Signal - Private Messenger saw a dramatic spike in downloads in mid-January with 193K, which then sharply decreased to 3.7K by March's end. The weekly active users peaked at 28K in the same period and then fell to 10K, reflecting a similar trend to the downloads.
